My Journey to how I got here:

I slightly remember writing programs in FORTRAN in the 60's for a college course.  Working on a mainframe and waiting for output made progress go very slowly.  By the early 80's I was into BASIC and writing most of the software that I used in my classes.  (I was a math teacher that dabbled in the new phenom - personal computers.)  Not much software was available - so write it or just play games.

By the late 80's, I was now teaching computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases and desktop publishing).  Something that most people had not experienced yet due to the cost of personal computers.

By the late 90's I was getting interested in HTML and its use on the internet.  I created the web site for our school building and taught students how to get involved.  My next website was volunteer work for a ministry.  Later I created the web site for The York Country Department of Parks and Recreation.  Gradually word of mouth brought more projects my way.  Suddenly I was getting paid to do some fun stuff.  I was learning as I was going.  As a disclaimer, I am far from an expert.  I just know more than those who have asked me to create and maintain their sites (or just don't have the time to do it).

I was very comfortable with the sites that I was creating.  Then someone asked me to create an on-line store for them.  I had never set one of these up and wasn't really aware what it would take.  I made the customer aware of my lack of knowledge with this but I was still given the GO.  So I thought I should try this for myself first just to keep a little ahead of the other job.  Here is the example.  You can buy books but the inventory is small because I am not in it to make tons of money.
